Handmade & Artisan

The Lord filled Bezalel with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts, to work in gold and silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to carve wood. Skill of the hand has always been understood as a gift given, not merely a trade learned.

Everything gathered here was made by such hands. Clay thrown and glazed one vessel at a time, wax poured in small batches, leather cut and stitched, glass blown while still glowing, cotton and jute and seagrass worked on looms by weavers who learned the craft from those who came before them.

You can feel the difference in the weight of a bowl, in the slight variation between one piece and the next. No two are exactly alike, because no two were made by a machine. These are the pieces that become heirlooms, the ones a daughter asks for one day.

"I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills." — Exodus 31:3
