Premium and Heirloom
Some things are bought for a season. These are bought for a lifetime, and then for the lifetime after that.
An heirloom is simply an object that outlived the person who chose it, and was thought worth keeping. The leather journal filled with a family's handwriting. The serving bowl carried to the table every holiday until the grain is worn smooth. The cross that hung in one house, then another, then a third. Fine porcelain, solid wood, genuine leather, real stone and metal, the materials that age into beauty rather than out of it.
These pieces cost more because they were made to a standard rather than to a price. Buy them slowly, one at a time, and choose them for the person who will inherit them.
