Softer than cashmere, warmer and stronger than lamb’s wool, alpaca carries within its fibers microscopic air pockets that create lightweight warmth unlike anything else the natural world offers.

The Black Ribbed Alpaca Ear Warmer by Slate + Salt is made from this same honored fiber — 43% baby alpaca, 43% wool, 14% polyamide — hand-knitted on a knitting machine by the Allpa weaving collective in Peru, a network of over 80 small and mid-size artisan workshops across the country. Two ribbed layers trap warmth without adding weight, and the classic black colorway pairs with everything from a winter coat to a casual morning walk.
