The Cross on the Shelf. The Story Behind It Even More Beautiful.

A bookshelf is not just storage. It is a statement — a curated collection of the ideas and the stories and the words that have shaped the person who owns it. And the bookends that hold those books in place are the frame of that statement — the first thing the eye sees, the piece that sets the tone for everything between them. The Cross Bookend by Highland Ridge Decor is the most beautiful, most meaningful frame a faith-filled bookshelf has ever had.

Modern. Clean. Unmistakably the cross. Plasma-cut from 16-gauge steel with the precision of a CNC plasma cutter and the care of a family workshop in rural Tennessee — 4.5" wide, 7" tall, on a 5" x 3.5" base that holds the books firmly and the cross beautifully upright. The natural steel finish left untreated so that every piece carries its own unique coloration and character — no two exactly alike, each one its own. The cross that holds the books. The books that hold the words. The words that hold the faith.

Plasma-Cut Steel — The Most Precise, Most Beautiful Metal Art Available

Each Cross Bookend is plasma-cut from 16-gauge steel — approximately the thickness of a quarter coin — using a CNC (Computer Numeric Control) plasma cutter driven by a designer-created digital file. Plasma cutting uses a plasma torch — think liquid fire — to cut through steel with extraordinary precision, producing the clean, sharp lines and the exact dimensions that make this bookend as modern and as refined as it is strong and durable.

The 16-gauge steel is the ideal weight for a bookend — heavy enough to hold a full shelf of books firmly in place, light enough to move and reposition without effort. The natural steel finish is left untreated — no paint, no coating, no treatment that would obscure the honest, industrial beauty of the raw metal. Because of this, each piece develops its own unique coloration and markings over time — the natural patina of steel that makes every bookend slightly different from every other, each one genuinely its own. Keep it dry to preserve the natural finish.

After cutting, Steve — the shop owner’s father and the man behind the plasma cutter — buffs off any rough edges by hand, giving every piece the smooth finish that makes it as safe to handle as it is beautiful to display. Then Stephanie and her assistant inspect each piece, clean it, and pack it with the care that every handmade piece deserves.

The Story Behind Every Piece — A Mission Worth Supporting

Highland Ridge Decor is not just a home decor brand. It is a nonprofit on mission to create life-transforming employment in rural Tennessee and beyond — employing women in the care of local agencies, giving them a safe, positive, dignified work environment as they get back on their feet. Every Cross Bookend purchased is not just a beautiful object for the shelf. It is a ripple effect of positive impact — a job supported, a woman empowered, a community strengthened.

Designer and shop owner Stephanie creates every design exclusively for this shop — so the Cross Bookend found here is found nowhere else. She sends her art to her dad Steve, who brings it to life on the plasma cutter with the precision of the machine and the care of a man who knows that what he is making matters. This is the bookend that is as meaningful as the books it holds.

With your purchase, you become a part of this story.

Perfect for the Faith-Filled Home, Office, or Library

On the living room bookshelf, holding the devotionals and the Bibles and the theology books that anchor the home. On the office shelf, where the cross is the first thing seen at the start of every workday. On the library shelf, where the books are many and the faith that runs through them is one. On the nightstand, holding the small stack of books that are read before sleep. On the gift table at the graduation, the housewarming, the Christmas morning, the birthday — the bookend that says: the Word holds everything together.

Available Individually or in Sets — For Every Shelf, Every Gift

Sold individually or in sets of 2 through 25 — the single bookend for the corner display, the set of 2 for the classic bookshelf pair, the larger sets for the church library, the school, the office, the gift that multiplies the impact. Every set purchased multiplies the mission of Highland Ridge Decor — more jobs, more women supported, more ripples of positive impact in rural Tennessee and beyond.

The Perfect Faith Gift

For the reader whose bookshelf is a reflection of her faith. For the graduate whose new home needs the cross on the shelf from the very first day. For the pastor whose office should be as beautiful as his calling. For a housewarming, a birthday, a Christmas gift, or a just-because gift for the person who fills their shelves with words worth reading and whose bookends should be as meaningful as the books between them. By Highland Ridge Decor — handmade in Tennessee, plasma-cut steel, the cross that holds the books.
