The color of a spice market at golden hour. The warmth of a fire under an open sky. ✨

The Mungo Boma Napkin in Cardamom is a set of four napkins in one of the most quietly beautiful colors in the Boma collection — a warm, golden-green spice tone that evokes the aromatic richness of cardamom itself: complex, warm, alive. Named for the traditional African boma — the outdoor fireside gathering place where a community comes together to share food and conversation under the stars — these napkins were made to be part of exactly that kind of moment. Woven from 100% cotton grown in Southern Africa by Mungo, one of South Africa’s most celebrated textile makers, they are generous in size (55cm x 55cm / approx. 22" x 22"), beautiful in hand, and made to be used again and again.

The Cardamom colorway is the one for the table that wants warmth without loudness — a tone that works with natural linens, with acacia wood, with terracotta and cream and every earthy palette that makes a home feel grounded and alive. Set it against a white tablecloth and it glows. Set it on a bare wooden table and it belongs completely. A color that is as at home at a candlelit dinner party as it is at a Sunday family lunch.

The Boma — Africa’s Sacred Gathering Place

In East and Southern African cultures, the boma is an enclosure — a protected outdoor space, often circular, where a community gathers around a fire. It is the African hearth: the place where food is shared, where stories are told, where the warmth of the fire and the warmth of the people around it become the same thing. In South African culture, the boma meal is a beloved tradition — an outdoor fireside gathering where the table is set under the stars, the fire crackles at the center, and the evening belongs entirely to the people around it. The Mungo Boma Napkin was named for that tradition — for the conviction that a meal shared with intention, in a place of warmth and welcome, is one of the most sacred things we do together.

Mungo — Woven in South Africa

Mungo is one of South Africa’s most celebrated textile brands — a weaving mill with deep roots in the craft traditions of the Western Cape, committed to producing textiles of genuine quality from natural fibers grown and woven in Southern Africa. The cotton in the Boma napkins is grown in Southern Africa and woven by Mungo’s skilled weavers into a fabric of beautiful weight and texture — soft enough to feel luxurious at the table, durable enough to wash and use again and again without losing its character.
