For the table where the meal is made with care and shared with joy. ✨

There is something deeply right about a wooden bowl on a table. It is warm where porcelain is cool, grounded where glass is delicate, alive in a way that no manufactured material can replicate. The Skagen Large Acacia Wood Salad Bowl by Kalmar Home brings that warmth to your table in its most beautiful form. At 10 inches wide and 4 inches deep, it is a generous, family-sized bowl — large enough to toss a full salad for a dinner party, to hold a mound of fresh fruit for a summer gathering, to serve popcorn or snacks for an evening around the table. It arrives with two 12-inch servers, making it a complete, ready-to-use set that is as practical as it is beautiful.

Its classic, clean design steps back and lets the wood speak — and acacia wood has a great deal to say.

Inspired by Skagen, Denmark

Skagen is the northernmost tip of Denmark — a place where the North Sea and the Baltic Sea meet in a dramatic, swirling collision of waters, where the light is unlike anywhere else in the world. For centuries, Skagen was a fishing village at the edge of the known world, its people shaped by the sea, the wind, and the long golden hours of the northern summer. In the late 19th century, it became one of Scandinavia’s most celebrated artists’ colonies, drawing painters from across Denmark and beyond who came to capture that extraordinary quality of light — luminous, warm, and endlessly alive. The Skagen painters, as they came to be known, celebrated the beauty of simple, honest things: the sea, the sand, the table set for a meal, the people gathered around it. That same spirit — of beauty found in the natural, the simple, and the well-made — lives in this bowl.

About Acacia Wood

Acacia is one of the most ancient and storied woods in the world. In Scripture, it is the wood chosen by God for the most sacred objects — the Ark of the Covenant, the Tabernacle, the altar of burnt offering — because of its exceptional strength, its resistance to decay, and its enduring beauty (Exodus 25–27). It is a wood that has been trusted for millennia, and for good reason. Acacia grows quickly and abundantly, making it one of the most naturally renewable hardwoods available. It is exceptionally dense and hard — resistant to warping, cracking, and moisture — and its grain is among the most distinctive and beautiful of any wood, with rich warm tones that range from honey gold to deep amber, often with dramatic swirling patterns that make every piece unique. No two acacia bowls are ever exactly alike.

Care:

  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth — do not submerge in water or place in dishwasher
  • Occasional oiling with food-safe mineral oil will preserve the wood’s beauty and extend its life
  • Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight and extreme heat
