Softer than cashmere, warmer and stronger than lamb’s wool, alpaca carries within its fibers microscopic air pockets that create lightweight warmth unlike anything else the natural world offers.

The Autumn Ribbed Alpaca Ear Warmer by Slate + Salt is made from this same honored fiber — 43% baby alpaca, 43% wool, 14% polyamide — hand-knitted on a knitting machine by a weaving collective in Peru called Allpa, which works with over 80 small and mid-size artisan workshops throughout the country. Two ribbed layers trap warmth without adding weight, making this the kind of piece you tuck into a coat pocket and reach for every single cold morning.
