About the Fiber
Alpaca comes from small artisanal farming families in the Peruvian Andes, where the animals roam freely in the highlands and are not harmed during shearing. Alpaca fiber is completely natural, produced without harsh chemicals, and contains microscopic air pockets that create exceptional lightweight insulation. It is softer than cashmere, produces up to 28 natural colors, and retains its luster wash after wash. The knowledge of spinning and weaving alpaca has been passed from generation to generation in Peru — a textile heritage stretching back to the Inca civilization, which prized alpaca fiber above gold and silver.
"She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands… She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple." — Proverbs 31:13, 22
