Written in the ruins. Declared in the ash. And still true every single morning.
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22-23
These words were not written from a place of comfort. They were written by the prophet Jeremiah — known as the “Weeping Prophet” — as he sat in the smoldering ruins of Jerusalem after it had been utterly destroyed by Babylon in 586 BC. The Temple was gone. The city was ash. God’s people had been carried off into captivity. Jeremiah had witnessed it all.
And yet, right in the middle of his grief — in chapter 3, the very center of the book of Lamentations — he stops. And he chooses to remember who God is. Not because his circumstances had changed. But because God had not.
His mercies are new every morning. Not recycled. Not leftover from yesterday. Brand new. Every single day, no matter what the day before held.
It is one of the most defiant acts of faith in the entire Bible — a man choosing to declare God’s faithfulness in the middle of the worst moment of his life. And it became the foundation of one of the most beloved hymns in Christian history: Great Is Thy Faithfulness.
The His Mercies Pillow Hug banner brings this declaration into your home — a daily reminder that no matter what yesterday looked like, this morning is a fresh start wrapped in the mercy of God. Display it in your bedroom, living room, or entryway and let it speak truth every time you walk past it.
