Painted Butterflies in Flight
In the ancient tradition of Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, skilled metal artists transform what was once discarded — steel oil drums, cast off and forgotten — into something breathtaking. This is the art of redemption made visible, and Painted Butterflies in Flight is one of its most joyful expressions.
Hand-cut and hand-painted by Haitian metal artists at the Village Artistique de Noailles, this round 12” x 12” piece bursts with color — intricate butterflies mid-flight among vibrant flowers, each line and curve shaped by skilled hands. Coated with a protective gloss varnish, it is made for both indoor and outdoor display: equally at home on a gallery wall, a garden fence, or a sunlit patio.
A folk art tradition dating to the mid-20th century, Haitian metal art carries the mark of its maker in every piece. Because each is handcrafted individually, there will be slight variations from one to the next — not imperfections, but the signature of a human hand. No two are exactly alike.
